I made it back home to Louisiana from OKC a little
after midnight last night. I had an awesome time at
Lake Hefner Saturday. It was great seeing Red and
Kevin again, and even better meeting all the new faces
with familiar names. Wayne Atchley, John Washam,
William Bowen, Clyde Hagen, Steve Wolfe, and more.
The food was great (A big thanks to Chef Bowen), the
weather was great, and the boats were awesome! There
was something there for everyone no matter which you
prefer, glass, wood, or aluminum.

Of course the Highlight of the day was me winning the
free boat, and I still can't believe I was that lucky.
Neither can my wife.... LOL! I took a lot of pics and
will post some here. After I get them all up on my
family website I'll post the link for all to see.

If you get a chance to make this meet next year I
highly suggest it. I'll definately be back.

The meet was loads of fun! Thanks for the ride, Cap'n.
That Caddy rides like a dream, and didn't seem to notice
that it was pulling a boat. Willy, thanks for the great food.
Clyde, thanks for the band-aid! (Clyde lives in the
untamed wildlands of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where
wild creatures roam in search of their next meal. I was
wounded, but no tourniquet was required.)
This was my first time to actually put faces to the names
on the Fiberglassics forum, and they're all great folks.
Sorry I couldn't bring my boat this time, but I have a
sneaky feeling it will be on hand next year.
I got the opportunity to wander around in the Captain's
boat yard; it's enough to put a glasshead into shock. He
has about sixty glassics.

Yep, it was a GREAT time. Willie stayed chained to the
grill for most of the afternoon. Thanks man! Red
brought the Pond Queen and it made quite a hit with
everyone. Lots of good folks and some really fine boats.

Special thanks to those that drove from out of town for
the meet. Wonderful to have you with us.

Extra special thanks to all who policed the area. I was
the last one to leave the park and we left it cleaner than
we found it. That is a very good impression to leave with
the folks that run the park. Good job everyone!

See ya next year!  John

1st off, Thanks to the Chef Bowen again, If you went
away hungry it was not his fault.
2ndly, Doug, even though you came up late after I took
everyones name out of the hat except mine and placed
several more with my name and you put one entry in the
hat and you took my boat. It was still great to meet you
and look forward to another day. Oh, I forgot, you got the
windshield too.
3rdly, To Red and eveyone else that helped put it together.
4th and lastly, to Kevin, who finaly got a boat to the meet.
(for those who don't remember last year, Kevin had
trailer failure within 5 miles of the meet and was not able
to get his boat there...

Thanks again.

I think that most everyone has chimed in on the fun
had by all at the OKCOBRA meet on Saturday.
William Bowen, along with many others, did a
fantastic job of organizing a great event.... lots of good
food and good people!
I want to also thank Russ Tanner and Howard
DeHaven for bringing some absolutely stunning
examples of restored outboards. I am posting a couple
of photo's below. The poor quality of my photos does
neither of them any true justice, but I wanted to thank
them both anyway.

Alright, better late than never!
All I can say is WOW!!! What a turnout! I can't think of a
better way to spend an AWESOME Saturday... Good food,
good friends, lots of stuff to look at and play with...

To the guys who spent the time to put this together, I say
THANK YOU.

If you guys are willing to gamble the weather again this
coming spring, we ought to try to do the LCB meet again.
Just hope that we have the kind of turnout that made
Saturday such a great success...

Thanks again to all of you who pulle this one off; way to go!
